Connecting technology, design and above all experience is something Daan Roosegaarde is known for. With ENS and Bob Ursem, Roosegaarde developed a system to literally suck the smog from the strongly polluted Beijing sky. One of his many characteristic works is Dune, an interactive dune landscape consisting hundreds of LEDs. Next to Dune one of the main works is Smart Highway. The goal is to make roads more sustainable and interactive by using light, energy and road signs that automatically adapt to the traffic situation. This connection, established between ideology and technology, results in what Roosegaarde calls ‘techno-poetry’.
